CCCIA Model Home Showcase Awards!

Downtown Fort Myers Music Walk!

 

The River District comes alive every month with live music on the 3rd Friday of the month in the downtown Fort Myers River District.

 

Over a dozen participating venues feature music by local and regional talent. Restaurants, bars, art galleries, and shops will showcase a wide range of music during Music Walk. From jazz and blues to rock, drums and much more. Each month brings great music and new energy to the historic streets of downtown Fort Myers.

 

The Walk runs from 6-10pm.

Wine tasting!

I don't know about you, but I love a good glass of wine... And I looove going to wine tastings.

 

One of the best ways to discover upcoming local wine tastings and events in your area is by visiting Local Wine Events website at www.localwineevents.com. You put in your specific area, hit search and BAM! It pulls up any future events for the next couple months.

 

One that caught my eye, (and seems to be a pretty good value for the money), is

Supper Club Night Under the Stars at Ruth's Chris Steak House at Coconut Pointe Mall in Estero.

It's being held Monday, March 11th, from 6:30-9:30 pm and sounds like fun! In addition to great wine and food, they also feature entertainment by Michael Dutra on their patio outside. What a great date night or group outing! Gentlemen, you would make quite the impression on the missus by surprising her with a good time like this.

Weekend fun!

Hey everyone! It's finally Friday again, which only means one thing...

The weekend is heeerreeee!

Now, I'm normally only a basketball and football kind of girl but there's something about watching hockey live that is so exciting! (I do admit, my favorite part is when there's a fight. But hey, who doesn't love to watch a little rivalry between teams, right?!) The games are inexpensive and it's something different to do. Even if it's your first game, I'll bet you find yourself cheering and getting all the way into it! Did I mention, in addition to being a great couples, guys (or girls) night, it's perfect to bring this kids to also? My little girls love going to a game and cheering right along with everyone else! Great, affordable, fun-time opportunity! Just make sure to bring your jacket. It gets pretty chilly in there at times. 

 

After the game, grab some drinks or a snack at one of the many local restaurants nearby. It's a great way to spend a Saturday night out that is sure to keep everyone engaged and talking!

I wanted to take a minute to shine the spotlight on a local business that I cannot get enough of!

Merrick Seafood!

They're located off of 47th Street in Cape Coral in a distinct blue building. They are simply the BEST in this area! Being born and raised in Cape Coral, (yes I am a Florida Cracker and proud of it!), I have been groomed in the art of knowing quality seafood when I taste it. With that said, all of their fish is fresh, they are fairly priced, their staff is knowledgeable and friendly and their Lobster Bisque is OUT OF THIS WORLD good! With it's rich, creamy texture and abundant chunks of succulent lobster meat, I have developed a full blown addiction! As I'm sure my husband would agree, I have a very picky palate when it comes to quality seafood. With that said, I find myself constantly finding excuses to stop by after work almost daily. They are that good!

They have just opened their first restaurant, Fish Tale, which is connected to their market also. I have yet to try it, but when I do get the chance, I am positive it will be nothing short of amazing!

So any snowbirds or even locals looking for that perfect Seafood Market that is worth the drive, (I now live in Fort Myers and don't think twice about a trip to the Cape), I STRONGLY urge you, if you haven't already, to give Merrick Seafood a try!

You won't be disappointed!

Fort Myers Beach Shrimp Festival and Parade

Two days of festivities celebrate Fort Myers Beach's Shrimp Harvest on 

Mar 09, 2013 - Mar 10, 2013.

 

Admission to the event is free!

 

Activities for the 55th annual event will include a parade, and crowning of the Shrimp Queen on Saturday, craft vendors, the boiled shrimp concession, and other seafood booths set up both days at Lynn Hall Memorial Park.
